Since our last update, Alex Olivier has been promoted to the role of Chief Product Officer, we've released Cerbos PDP v0.33, enhanced Cerbos Hub, crafted guides for integrating fine-grained access control into Nuxt web apps and selecting the ideal authorization framework for Java applications, and are gearing up for several upcoming conferences.
Product updates
Cerbos Hub
Since the release of Hub in November we have been heads down ensuring the journey to get up and running with Cerbos in your environment is as slick as possible. Several enhancements have been introduced this month around making Hub more intuitive and informative:
The Playground is the first stop on your journey inside of Cerbos Hub enabling you to prototype, test and experiment with Cerbos policies without needing to set up any components, run any services or deploy any containers. Loaded up with examples for common use cases, it is the best place to start.
During workspace setup, Cerbos Hub will continuously scan your configuration and let you know if everything is correct. Helpful messages are now displayed in the interface, for example if your configuration points to an invalid git reference on your repo:
Additional messaging is displayed on the build output of the CI pipeline of any issues with the policy files which lead to a compilation to fail, pointing you to the exact file to make the fix in.
The v0.33 release of Cerbos is packed with new features including an upgraded user-defined output, audit log improvements, and more.
The user-defined output from a policy evaluation now has a when.conditionNotMet option that produces an output when a rule's condition is not satisfied. In addition, we improved the structure of the output block.
Audit log entries now contain store-specific metadata about the policies used to make each decision.
The deprecated `client` package, which has been superseded by github. com/cerbos/cerbos-sdk-go, has been removed in this release.
In this tutorial you will learn how to use Cerbos to add fine-grained access control to any Nuxt web application, simplifying authorization as a result.
During the webinar, Alex Olivier, and Wesley, presenter of the popular ByteGrad Youtube channel, demonstrated how to author permissions and policy changes using Cerbos Hub, and deploy those changes without changing any other code. Click the link to check out the webinar summary and recording.
