Learn about Cerbos Hub

Since our last update, we've released Cerbos PDP v0.35.1, took a deep dive into building secure applications in a collaborative piece with Microsoft Entra, discussed the importance of embracing WebAssembly in authorization, examined authorization APIs, and shared a piece on how Cerbos is designed to redefine how permissions and access control are implemented within applications.

Our co-founder, Emre Baran, was featured on the From the Ground Up podcast, sharing insights from his entrepreneurial journey, and the inception of Cerbos.

Cerbos Hub

Since the release of Hub in November we have been heads down ensuring the journey to get up and running with Cerbos in your environment is as slick as possible. Several enhancements have been introduced this month around making Hub more intuitive and informative:

  • Search for tests
Quickly find a specific test case in your test suite inside of the Builds page. For users with hundreds of test cases in their policy repo, you can now filter by test result and name to quickly identify specific cases of interest.

  • Deployment steps from the Playground
Once you get your policies into a state you want to test with, the Playground now provides a simple guide to follow to export your policies. Create your repository and then connect it up to Cerbos Hub for a fully managed CI/CD pipeline for your authorization logic.
  • Configure the Playground how you like
Every developer has their preferred setup for their IDEs - and you now can with the Hub Playground. We’ve overhauled how the panel layout works so now you are free to expand, collapse and resize to your heart's content for the most optimal setup for you.

Cerbos PDP

The v0.35.1 version of Cerbos is a small update which improves the query plan outputs when indexing into lists using a principal or resource attribute simplifying the resultant query to your data store. Also, a fix to handle a cache invalidation issue when lenient scope search is enabled for scoped policies, has been made.

This release also includes a new work-in-progress Admin API endpoint to inspect the policies in the policy repo and list their properties. Currently, it supports listing the actions covered by each policy.

On the documentation side, we’ve added a guide for running Cerbos PDP in fly.io. This provides the configuration required to run Cerbos as a Fly Launch app with the correct health checks and endpoints exposed to use call Cerbos from other services.
